Date of dining experience: September 9, 2016
Place: The Greek
Location: 102 E. Clinton Ave. in State College, PA
Shared Appetizer 1: Dolmades ($5) - Grape leaves stuffed with rice and herbs, drizzled with a lemon-dill sauce. These were very delicious. There were five in the order, but they were smaller than I am used to. However, I'm also used to them having meat in them.
Shared Appetizer 2: Kalamari ($9) - Lightly breaded and fried to perfection, served with a savory tomato sauce. This was extremely good as well. I especially loved the sauce!
Side Salad: Village Salad (Horiatiki) - Freshly cut campari tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, feta cheese, and Kalamata olives, served on a bed of greens and drizzled with their own Greek dressing. This salad was fantastic, but there were a lot of tomatoes and not much of the greens.
Entree: Moussaka ($17 - included the side salad) - Deliciously layered roasted eggplant, seasoned ground beef, and potatoes, topped with their bechamel sauce. This was by far the best thing of the evening! I absolutely love this dish and they did it right!
Wine: You can bring you own wine here without having to pay a corking fee, so Audry and I brought a nice bottle of 2014 Dante Rivetti Mara Barbera d'Alba that was perfect with the dishes in this meal!
Dessert: Baklava ($3) - A delectable mix of crushed walnuts, cinnamon, and honey, layered in phyllo pastry. This was very good, but tasted a little old and dry.
Overall, this is a great Greek restaurant! Except for the Moussaka, most of the food tasted a little "Americanized," but it was all still very good. I highly recommend this restaurant if you have not eaten here.
Give it a try and let me know what you think! Enjoy!
This blog is dedicated to good restaurants. I love good food and all things pertaining to the dining experience. I will only include fast food, chain places, or quick lunches if I have a truly exceptional meal or dining experience. I will do my best to describe various aspects of my dining experiences, including service, atmosphere, food, wines, beers, prices, location, and entertainment (if any is provided). It is possible, over time, that some restaurants may earn more than one entry. Enjoy!

Whiskers - State College, PA
Date of dining experience: September 2, 2016
Place: Whiskers (pub) at The Nittany Lion Inn
Location: 200 W. Park Ave. in State College, PA
Appetizer: Free popcorn served fresh all day, whether you're having dinner or just meeting some friends for some drinks.
Entree: Half BBQ Chicken with buttermilk mashed potatoes ($20) - A very delicious meal, even for people like me who do not like to eat messy foods.
Beer: Stella Artois ($7) - A very good beer for any circumstance.
Though everything was good, I recommend this place as somewhere to meet friends for drinks. It's not quite the quality of restaurant for one to go to because they actually like one of the limited number of entree offerings. Overall, it's a great place to visit.
Try it out and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
