Date of dining experience: November 15, 2015
Place: C.J. Mugg's
Location: 101 W. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves, MO
Salad: Muggs' House (small $5) - romaine, iceberg, field greens, tomatoes, eggs, cucumbers, onions, cheddar, provel, and housemade croutons. (I'm not sure why the name of the place has the apostrophe before the "s" and some of the house dishes have it afterward.) This was a very good salad. I had it with the strawberry vinaigrette.
Meal: Pad Thai (small $9.25) - a traditional spicy Thai stir fry: broccoli, lemon grass, baby corn, carrots, green onions, bell peppers, rice stick noodles, and spicy ginger peanut sauce, topped with bean sprouts, fresh lime, and cilantro. This was fantastic! I will probably get this again the next time I visit C.J. Mugg's.
I ate here because I was playing a jazz gig in the downstairs area. For those of you who would like to try this place, you could come up on Valentine's Day to try it. I'm playing another jazz gig here that night from 6:00-8:30 P.M. and as far as I know the tickets are not sold out yet.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The downstairs atmosphere is a little more laid back, while the upstairs is a little more classy. Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think! Enjoy!
