Vin de Set - St. Louis, MO

Date of dining experience: December 19, 2015

Place: Vin de Set

Location: 2017 Chouteau Ave. in St. Louis, MO

Hors D'Oeuvres: Escargot - Artichoke, bacon, pearl onion, preserved lemon, and white cream sauce. This was my first time having escargot and it was delicious!

Fromage: Roquefort, Prairie Breeze, and Marieke.
Roquefort - France sheep's milk, pungent - Just the way I like my cheese, soft and stinky!
Prairie Breeze - Idaho cow's milk, nutty, sodium crystals - The sodium crystals gave this cheese a great flavor!
Marieke - Wisconsin cow's milk, buttery - This was also a very good cheese, though it is more "standard" than the other two.

Les Plats: Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass - Vegetable ribbons, pea shoots, and vanilla-citrus vinaigrette. This sea bass was fantastic, though not as good as Dhafer's in Dexter. I don't know what he does to it or where he gets it, but I have yet to find a sea bass as good as his!

Dessert: Nutella Crepe - This was a very good dessert, but was very rich. I'm really glad I had some coffee to go with it.

Wine: Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (made with organic grapes) - This bottle of wine with our entrees was fantastic! This is definitely worth checking out!

Beers: Chimay and Goose Island Matilda (both are Belgian-style beers - my favorite!) - I absolutely loved both of these beers and will definitely have them again.

In case you couldn't tell, this restaurant is French-themed. This place is truly amazing and I highly recommend you try it and all the other St. Louis Originals restaurants! Once you try this place, let me know what you think of it. I'm sure you'll agree with me. Enjoy!
