Place: The Bar
Location: 117 Themis St. in Cape Girardeau, MO
Yes, this is the bar from the movie Gone Girl, and it is fantastic! The first time I went here it was for dinner and the second was for brunch.
Dinner: They were out of Shepherd's Pie, so I got the Pecan Parmesan Crusted Wild Salmon ($15) - Served with cayenne cucumber sauce and French bread. This salmon was amazing! This "bar" is definitely not your typical bar. I would classify this place as a "classy bar" with great food!
Side: Braised Brussel Sprouts ($3) - The Brussels sprouts were wonderful. (Yes, I know I spelled it two different ways. The first one is how it looks in the menu and the second one is how I prefer to spell it because it is the correct way. Americans, in our typical lazy way, like to drop the "s" from the end of Brussels, probably because "sprouts" starts with an "s" as well.)
Brunch: Great coffee! There are so many egg dishes to choose from and they are all wonderful. I had the Croque Monsieur Provencal ($11). I suggest trying the Eggs Benedict. Not a lot of places make Eggs Benedict, but it is fantastic. I doubt you will disappointed with either of the dishes mentioned.
Try this place out for yourself and let me know what you think. I know you will love it! Enjoy!
